Do you want an all skills (overall) skillweek?

Post by Dr Brad » Tue Aug 23, 2011 1:08 am

It's been suggested that we hold a skillweek in the future where ALL and ANY skills can be trained. This is similar to the Bonus XP Weekend but would last for an entire week. If we do this, I suggest that there be NO restrictions. Anything (except botting and account sharing) goes. What do you think?

It was suggested that we do this in September, but it's likely (?) Jagex will hold a Bonus XP Weekend soon, and it didn't seem appropriate to have both events held so close together.

If we do that, I can really only see people doing skills that give out the most exp per hour, like hunter, cooking, and firemaking, as well as combat. I say that if we do an overall exp contest, how bout the winner has the highest average amount of experience in terms of all skills put together, have an award for highest exp gained total (no average), and have another award for most levels gained?

Isn't that the point though? Gain the most experience in a week.

I see no reason to complicate things with calculations and hand out rewards for highest experience and most levels. We don't recognize them for current skillweeks. If we did hand out a "reward" (for the mentioned statistics) I think continuing with the honorable mentions would suffice.

As for the topic: It might be worth trying.

No restrictions works for me. Let's just go for it! All out! Be creative and get the MOST xp you can in any way you can think of. I'm 100% behind everything Brad says on this one. \:D/ It's just one skills week. Why not give it a try.

Make them honorable mentions then.

I vote 'no' cause it really wouldn't feel like a total exp contest, but I'll participate anyways since there's no saying 'no' to participating in skill week. :|

I dont really see the point. It seems this would just be a way of recognizing those who play rs the most. How would this be different from any normal week? We come on, do what we most want to do to gain xp in some skill (or just to vent work frustrations by killing things), and move on to another skill.

So, my vote is no just because it seems silly.

That could be true of any skill week. I usually just set a reasonable goal for myself and try to reach it during skill week. With an "all skills" skill week, I don't know if I'd be so motivated to do that, because I wouldn't be able to focus on just one thing. I voted no, but if people want to do it I'm fine with it.

Like Serame said every skill week is this. Except this one you can add who wants to waste the most money.

No, usually skill weeks are motivation to train certain skill that you normally won't train. Starting an all skill skill week will only show which skills allow to get the most XP in short period of time and who has the most money. Normal skill weeks strengthens our clan since everyone are training the same skill and usually the topics are related to it in the chat, I can't see it with an all skill skill week, it's like a normal week with one tweak that everyones weekly XP gain will be recorded and compared. But if other members of KoA want to have one then I don't mind it.

I don't have a strong feeling about this one way or the other. However, some people train and track their total exp, so I suppose for them it would be a good motivator. Personally, I don't train much over 99, so I would stick to skills I need to train, even if they are slower exp/hr.

Nevertheless, I think it would be a fun change of pace. Another idea would be a level-week competition...how many levels can one get in the skill-week. This would favor players with lower skills, which would be a nice change as well.
