The New Koa Please Read Important!!!!!!!!!

Post by blarny3 » Tue Apr 12, 2011 3:27 pm

Hi all due to the changes to cc made by Jagex everyone will have to be manually added to the cc, the only way this is possible is for you to contact Admin in game and one of us will meet you and then we can add you. When speaking in the new Koa cc you must use // and use / in friends chat.

Hopefully we can get everyone added as soon as possible.

I've already asked Jagex if we can shorten [Kingdom of Asgarnia] in the new CC. Waiting for a reply. Many have asked Jagex the same question.

Over time, we'll transition everyone from "KoA Clan" (as a friend CC) to the new clan CC. We're busily learning about the new clan.

Try accessing the Jagex supplied KoA Homepage via

http://services.runescape.com/m=clan-hi ... landing.ws

Then, "Log into my clan" --> "Kingdom of Asgarnia"

Add your thoughts to this thread.

Hmm, thoughts, hmm...
I think all were already mentioned but here are my thoughts:
-moving the "clan ownership" to the "KoA clan" account
-name shortening for more room in chat
-maybe opening up "recruiting" will allow current members to "sign up" rather than having to hunt them down and add them like you have been doing.

Agree with the name shortening.

Im in such a state of confusion. Im not sure if i can remain in koa since I am in another clan. Unless there is a way to allow me in as a friend and not a member. If not I will have to take a few days to weigh my options. Once i coome to a coonclusion I will post here.

I'm not sure if I wanna even bother w/ new cc format. Like Ed, I might need some time to "reflect." I will let you know as soon as I decide. I'm not much for change, and this seems to be a lot of "change." I luv KoA but I really don't know whether its worth it or whether what other changes are yet to come down the pike. Maybe Serame can encourage me

seems like a true pain in at backside to me. I know its nice that we have this clan stuff that jagex has provided, but is it truly needed? I mean, we are all still on the KoA Clan friends list and can talk there very easily. If we are to all move to the new cc then I suggest you open up who can invite people at least to staff. Or you could appoint some people to invite everyone over until the task is complete. But I'm with Para and Ed, I'm not sure if it's worth it to me to have to wait until I see one of you to use our clan chat. That just seems completely stupid to me. My activeness is sometimes random and sometimes I go a few days without seeing any of you admins.

While the / and the // thing has been annoying so far, it's something I'll get used to and I have enjoyed being able to chat with KoA and hang out in my friends CC at the same time

Just to clarify Red, each member only needs to be added by Admin the first time, not every time. Now you are added this morning you will be permanently on the cc list, just as the old Koa clan chat.

Here are the official FAQ's for the update:
Recent Update - FAQ

This sticky has been created in response to the most commonly asked questions regarding the most recent game update.

Whilst we continue to gather feedback, we will add any other frequently asked questions regarding this update to this thread - you may wish to check back every now and then.

Enjoy! :)

"“Why can I not have the option to leave my clan chat? I would like some privacy!”

Mod Chihiro: We need a way of tracking clan mates who are online. The clan chat channel does this for us. However, we are looking into ways that will allow you to mark yourself as being ‘busy', but we also believe that keeping track of their clan mates is a feature that clan leaders will need to maintain a clan in the long run.

"“Why can I not be a member of more than one clan?”

Mod Chihiro:: This is a technical limitation, all of our clan systems rely on us being able to answer the question ‘which clan am I in' in an unambiguous way. Features like Hiscores will not have any value if we allow the ability to be a member of more than one clan. We looked into ways we could do this, but concluded very clearly that it was not technically feasible to create the system any other way.

"“I have a friendly clan of 4, am I still able to create a clan?”

Mod Chihiro: We do not see 4 players as a ‘clan'. We deliberately chose to limit starting a clan to 5 people, which is a lower threshold than most MMO clan systems, because we don't want to discourage small groups of friends from starting new clans, but even then we consider that five is the minimum number of players required to seed a clan, rather than a sustainable clan size.

It is currently possible to get into a state where a clan can have fewer than 5 players, but we don't want to encourage this, as any clan content will not be designed to handle groups that small (e.g. the minimum clan size required for Rated Clan Wars is 10).

"“Why isn't there an option for lootshare/coinshare in the new clan chat?”

Mod Chihiro: We chose not to implement this for time reasons. We do intend to look into implementing this for clans, however, there were some complexities associated with adding it (you can be in a friend channel and a clan channel at the same time for example) that we will have to think about carefully. Also the clan system and the friend chat system are sufficiently different that we'd probably have to recode these features just for clans, so is not a ‘simple' fix.

"“What do I do if my clan's name is already in use?”

Mod Stevew: Unfortunately, clan names are issued on a first come first served basis to ensure that all clans are unique.

We did reserve the names for some of the largest and better known clans to minimize the possible disruption, however, it is inevitable that some clans may want the same name, and when this happens we suggest the relevant clan leaders speak with each other with the aim of reaching a resolution.

We can't get involved in individual clan disputes over names, so if you can't get your first choice name, think of it as an opportunity to come up with an even better name that is available. However, we are aware that this is causing a few issues currently, so we are looking in to a way in which disputes like this can be sorted out fairly. Please bear with us for now and we will update you as soon as we have any further information to provide.

"“Why did you make the new capes so similar to skillcapes?”

Mod Matt M: When we were designing the clan capes we wanted to provide players with a nice looking cape which can be customised to show your clan colours and clan logos. We did not want to devalue skill capes as those players lucky enough to have one have worked very hard to get it.

The customizable options on clan capes allows each clan to have a very unique looking cape that should be individual to their clan. The trim style is similar to skill capes, however, this was the best way for use to display the two clan colours. I can understand that on the day of release some players may find some of the clan skill icons similar to those on skill capes, but I'm confident that after a week anyone trying to fool other players into think they have a skill cape when in fact it is a cleverly designed clan cape won't be fooling anybody. Skill capes have only one icon which uses more colours and is more detailed than the clan logos while clan capes have two logos/icons. When developing the clan capes we understood that not all of the clans that would be created in RuneScape would be combat based but more aimed towards specific skills. This is why we have provided clan logos similar to the skill icons. We've also tried to cater to other styles of clans who may want to show their allegiance to a god or combat style. The idea behind the clan logos was to create a message or story for your clan by combining two different icons, for example using the goblin head and crossed swords could work well for a clan called ‘Teh G0blin Killerz'.

In the future we may be adding more clan logos based on players suggestions and feedback so we can cater for as many clans as possible.

"“Why did you change the font on friends/clan chat so you can't easily see the world/name? Why can't it be shortened to "RS 24" for world?”

Mod Emilee: Thanks for the feedback on this matter, we will be changing RuneScape to "“RS” in due course.

"“Why did you mess up the icons? They are so small that I can barely see what ranks people are now.”

Mod Chihiro: The icons were designed to be used as a larger version (see the clan mates list, as opposed to the clan channel list). Due to time limitations we resized them for use in the chat channel, which has meant they have lost a little clarity. I've discussed this with our Lead GUI artist (Mod Rak) and we'll look at redesigning icons specifically for use in the chat list.

"“Will you be making the text of the hiscore section smaller so we won't have to scroll so much to see number 22?”

Mod Barnzy: We will investigate the possibilities of improving the size of hiscore section of the website based on the community feedback as and when we can.

"“I love the new clan forums! When can the rest of us have their features?!”

Mod Emilee: It has always been our intention to update the RuneScape forums, and although we cannot give you specific dates, it's definitely on our action plan.

I agree with scootch, mass hysteria over having to go out of your way a bit.

I do not understand what is happening with the / and // I can still chat to everyone so will play until thngs become clear.
