Hunter Chin Question
I'm wanting to hunt chins for the first time. On Tip.It and RuneHQ it says to bate the trap with Spicy Chopped Tomato. However, the sites don't specify "exactly" what that is. So, I used a tomato with a bowl while having a knife in my inventory, and used a spice shaker with the bowl of diced tomato to get "spicy tomato". My questions are, is this the same as "Spicy Chopped Tomato" specified in the guides? Do I have to cook the bowl of spicy tomatos to use it as chin trap bait? Thanks for helping a hunter noob. (that would be me, btw

Re: Hunter Chin Question
Don´t use any bait at all. It only wastes time in my opinion

Re: Hunter Chin Question
Really? No bait? Are you saying that the bait doesn't really help all that much? Do hunting cloths help a lot? Or should I forgo those too? (Thx in advance)
Re: Hunter Chin Question
I say yay on the hunter clothes, nay on the bait.
Hunter clothes assist passively, so it doesn't cost any hassle or time. Bait on the other hand is a pain in the ass to prepare, inventory, and use; all of which doesn't help enough for it to be worth your time.

Re: Hunter Chin Question
yup, those little red rodents are stupid enough to walk into your traps without any bait.

Re: Hunter Chin Question
Concur on the wear hunter clothing, but don't bait. I never smoke traps either. Course my hunter is my lowest stat, but really, no one baits.

Re: Hunter Chin Question
I'm not high enough for red chins yet. I'm gonna try my hand at regular chins. (I need a break from fishing and cooking monks lol)damnimmart wrote:yup, those little red rodents are stupid enough to walk into your traps without any bait.

Re: Hunter Chin Question
Well, I got full chun hunter outfit (forget the name, it has matching head gear) and chin about 1000 of those suckers. I got another hunter lvl (55). But it's not the fastest money around. My fishing monks is faster money. lol But, because I'm going for all 99s, I'll have to work in Hunter in spirts to get the lvls up. Thx everyone for the advice!

Re: Hunter Chin Question
Even better: wait till it reaches level 80 and you can use 5 traps. At level 83 I get about 75-80k xp per hour there, which is worth about 200k gp I think. Beats fishing.
Re: Hunter Chin Question
woo hoo!!!! something i can comment on!
so far what ive seen is accurate, larupia clothing is what u want, and quite conveniently thats the same clothing u want for red chins. the exp is nothig super amazing, but money is decent, at least it was when i was hunting, and if ur doin regular chins there shouldnt be much competition. bait is useless and smoking is almost as bad.
another tip is to set ur traps up in a spread formation, maybe 5x5 square, not bunched up the way u see most people do it. i dont have any statistical data but i always felt that doing that helped catch them a little easier, at least up until 80, by which ur lvl is so high there is no difficulty catching them anymore.
hope this helps
EDIT: also when u do get up to red chins some say its better to wait til 70 to start catching them, since its always so crowded...if ur on at off-peak times i say go for it but u wont catch very many at all if there is more than 1 other person in a spot.
