Going to try to keep this short.

The primary reason for increasing this requirement appears to be to raise the maturity of the clan and have less younger, more disruptive personalities join. When it comes to maturity do those three years make that much of a difference? Will a person who has an immature behavior lose that in the time from 18 to 21? I don't believe so, I think that it takes much longer than that and even then some people never really change.

When it comes down to it I'm undecided right now. If we had been 21+ when I was looking for a clan like KoA I would never have joined. Perhaps its naive of me to wish other mature 18-21's to have that chance to join what I still consider to be one of the best communities, but I'd like those people to join. On the other hand the only person I've ever added to my ignore list for a short period of time, and whom also started deterring me from mumble (because of chatting I considered offensive) did belong to the 18-21 age group. And I'm not easily offended or add people to ignore hastily. Though I suppose I did both myself and the clan a disservice for not talking to the offensive person or mentioning those incidents to admins.

Anyhow thats my two cents, from an often inactive member.

I think that all this is much to about nothing. I voted no, not because of any high browed agenda, but because these issues take care of themselves. I've been here a very long time, and if someone isn't right for KoA they rage quit to validate the reasoning for a no drama rule. Problem solved. :)

Ffs could you make this anymore dramatic?

I voted yes and not only do I think it should be raised I think more importantly we should have a two week probationary period for people before they gain full access.
Now a probationary period i could get 100% behind.
Though like i mentioned in my first post, its kinda what admins are doing now, and doing a great job at that.

I have a longer answer but sadly don't have the time.

There is no age limit we can set that would guaruntee maturity, also there is no time I'm ever sure I've spelt gauruntee correctly, I hate that word.

Pls note this is just my P.O.V.

The idea behind an adult clan was not as a way to be sure (notice how I substituted the G word) of maturity, it was to have a place where adults could play the game, take part in events and socialise with other adults, to talk about adult life, to be fairly comfortable in surroundings where they can socialise with other adults, also for myself, I always felt uncomfortable being asked to be added on various messengers by teenagers for pking, or from the clan i was in etc.. I was in clans but quite a recluse because although I don't have children, I know I'd feel uncomfortable if I asked my child who he/she was playing the game with and they say, oh that's bob he's 44, he's cool. Not that it should really be a problem, but sadly in this world it is. Also, call me mad, but I just prefer socialising with adults, that was the idea, so I could meet and socialise with some adults. Just like life, just because someone is an adult, doesn't mean I'm going to like them or that they will be as mature as me (cough).

The idea of an adult clan is a fun, safe environment, for adults to socialise, to talk about adult life, work, marriage, kids etc.. Not to say well everyone over x age will be mature, because, well they just won't

18 was chosen because 18 is adult across most countries, sure, some it's 21, some it's 16, but in general to vote etc.. You need to be 18. We're an adult clan not a 21+ or 30+ etc clan.

There are other ways to try and enforce a more mature environment - if - it was required, excluding adults from an adult clan, in my view is not one.

out of interest, and I know no one is being kicked out.. but in our clan, how many great adults would we have excluded from joining, put ur hand up if ur 18 to 20.

Don't get me wrong, omg there were some idiots in KoA in it's non-adult form, and yes age and maturity do tend to be closely related, but 18-21 in my view is a tiny step, I hated hearing it in my low 20's, but 21 is still so freaking young (sorry anyone young), I look at my 20yo cousin and she still seems like a kid, but I've always been old beyong my years I think and I'm definately turning into a grumpy old man, or is that turned.

Anyway vote fishing! oh er that was last year wasn't it.

Hmmmph....its currently a tie. 8O

As I said before, with a vote this close, it may be better to just have Admin decide the issue. Honestly, though I voted no, I will be content with it going either way.

I vote no.

Yes, there is a correlation between age and maturity, but I am not sure that raising the minimum entry age from 18 to 21 really solves the "problems" that we as a clan would want it to solve. As many have said so far in this discussion, the immature in the clan tend to leave and resolve the issue without resorting to raising the minimum age.

One other thought: Deb mentioned a message earlier in the thread that
We missed out on a 14 year old with more maturity than I see in some members...if they truly want to be part of Koa they will wait, as he said he would.
If this passes, he will have to wait 3 more years than he thought he would to rejoin.
