How to [not] solo a star

Post by Tamal » Fri Sep 12, 2008 3:37 am

I was heading out to up my approval rating on Miscellania when a star fell right near the mining area! I started chipping away immediately!

Image

It was a size 7. Was going quite slow as I was the only one there.

Image

Soloing the Kalphite Queen is for noobs. Hardcore players solo stars!

Image

Someone popped in for a few hits, but left after a minute or two.

Image

An hour after the star had landed, I had it down to a size 3.

Image

Got a mining level :)

Image

It got very slow (had to bank gems as well, inventory was full of them!) At the two-hour mark, the star disappeared! A few people showed up at the end, right before it changed to a level 1! :(

Image

I didn't even get to cash in my stardust. I did however get an inventory full of gems and 53,808 XP :)

Oh wow! I'd love to solo a meteor! It's too bad that you didn't get to the little guy in the middle of the star, but that was serious mining xp. For me, that's the most important. :) Also, you answered my question of how long do the stars last if no one gets to the middle of it...2 hours. :)

Did you using the telescope in your POH? Or, did you check out the RSOF forums for sightings? That might've made it a "bit" of a shorter hunting time. :P

Well I didn't actually hunt for 2 hours, I was being a bit facetious about that. I did use my telescope and it told me it would land in Fremmenik or Lunar isle. I checked 2 places in Fremmy, no meteor, then went to Lunar isle. But I don't really know where on Lunar it would land as the only mines are underground, right? They don't land underground do they?

Also I'm not sure what RSOF is, Runescape official forums? I didn't know people posted on there when they have found one, not sure why they would.
