Aggressive monsters (and how to keep them that way!)

Post by jetset516 » Wed Nov 25, 2009 5:11 pm

Ok so I'm working my defense, gunning for 99. I've found dagannoths are great. Decent enough, though not spectacular drops...but what's great is that while wearing my full Guthans' I can just sit there forever, not need food, and best of all they are aggressive, so I only ever have to click once ever 4-5 minutes just so I don't log out. Not having to click every single monster is SO much more fun, and it makes for really fast xp!

SO...my question(s) are;
1) What are some other good aggressive monsters? Preferably in a multi-combat area.

2) Eventually, even the MOST aggressive monsters eventually grow bored of you (so to speak) and stop auto attacking you. What can I do to make them aggressive again once they taper off? I've tried signing off then back on, or switching worlds...or teleporting out then coming back...SOMETIMES it works but most times I go back and they're just not aggressive anymorre. Any ideas?

TIA!

Are you doing dags under Waterbirth Island or under the Lighthouse?

You can make them aggressive (lose tolerance) by moving outside of the area and then returning to that area. Each aggressive monster has a different tolerance zone. Some large...some small. For example, the terror dogs at Tarn's Lair have a small tolerance zone. Once they become tolerant, if you move to the other side of the room (e.g., south to north), they quickly become aggressive.

I believe that Bandits (south of the Bedabin Camp) will always be aggressive if you are wearing a sara or zammy item.

Another monster i fought recently for their claw, was Goraks. They are aggressive, but one at a time, they kinda queue up to hit you. However you cannot use prayer and they are lvl 145.

Access is through the fairy code DIR, but here is some more info on drops etc :)

When I was training melee and range I used to like to go to Chaos Tunnels and fight Zamorak warriors. When they would stop attacking me, I would simply run to opposite end of the room (it was spacious) and they would resume attacking me again.

Kewl, thanks for the suggestions!
I checked out the Zammy warriors on the Chaos tunnels. I got a crapload of rune daggers and scimmys in a short time!

Yuppers! That's why I liked them. Back then, they sold even higher. It was a preverbial cash cow + XP. :)

If you did Defender of Varrock quest, you could also try the armoured zombies in that dungeon under the chaos altar. That's where I trained for 99 Defence and HP (: They are in single combat, but they are aggressive. When they become passive, you just run around the corner & comeback to make them aggressive again.

They are undead and there is the chaos altar on top, so Salve (e) Ammy works and you get unlimited prayer.
With: 85 Strength + Salve (e) Ammy, Whip, DFS, BCP, Tassys + Piety + Super Pots
I could hit 43 max, and average hit of around 30-40. Your strength is higher so I imagine that you'd hit higher than me (:

They drop noted planks, noted oak planks, noted pure ess, charms (blue is pretty common), nature runes, herbs, and that I can't really recall. Those were all that I collected when I was training there lol. With a bunyip, you shouldn't need more than 5 tunas (or cheap equivalent) per trip. 1 trip was 3 bunyip pouches for me.

I'd be very thankful if you could make a mark on the chaos tunnel map showing where the zamorak warriors are and where to run to make them aggressive again ;)

As Firb mentioned bandits never lose aggression.

Terrible drops, and probably they have been superceeded by a lot of things for their XP, but they used to be one of the best consistent ways to train XP in the game, they never lose their aggression if you are carrying a sara or zammy item and they usually spawn at such a rate where you very rarely stop hitting, so its nearly constant xp.

I havent been there in a long time, one of the downsides was it could take a lot of world hopping to find a free spot.

I don't know if these will still be effective at all with the wilderness changes, But I use to train a lot at the hobgoblin mine, they do lose aggression eventually but the mine is big enough that if you go to the other side of the mine they regain aggression. They are good steady exp there are heaps of them there, and at the time I trained there apart from the odd miner I would be the only person there. One of the main reasons I trained there was because you'd get the odd group or individual coming back from a clan war or battle and you could pick them off as they ran past, which made up for the not so great drops. Nowadays I guess revenants would be an issue, altho it is not far at all from the wilderness volcano for banking. So for an aggressive, good xp foe with a nearby bank they are pretty good, and drop ranarr and snap seeds.
