KoA and botting
During the last skillweek, the Admin Team was confronted by clan members with botting charges against fellow clan members. We have listened to these concerns, researched what we could, and concluded the following: The Admin Team does not have the expertise to fully investigate and adjudicate botting charges. Many in KoA may feel they have that expertise; this isn't the case for the Admin Team. Therefore, in the future, should botting concerns arise, clan members may decide to report their concern to Jagex directly. Although Jagex has an anti-botting system, we all know that it is far from perfect. In most cases, the Admin Team will not investigate such charges.
Some of you reading this may ask, "Doesn't this run counter to the clan rule, 'No reporting KoA members ingame. We deal with rule breaking internally. Report by PMing an admin.'?" Yes, it does. This is an exception to that rule. KoA's rules will be updated.
In closing, we would like to remind the clan of the intent for skillweek: to build community through enjoyment of a common task. For some, competition can increase that enjoyment. However, for others, competition (when taken to extremes) can have negative effects.
Please, strive to keep skillweek fun and a positive experience for all of KoA.

So...does this mean, don't bother reporting such incidents to Admin? Therefore, in the future, should botting concerns arise, clan members may decide to report their concern to Jagex directly. What other rule breaking might possibly fall under the "don't bother us with it" headline?
Re: KoA and botting
May I ask why previous members were banned for botting then when the admin apparently "Doesn't have the expertise"? For instance, Rue was kicked for botting hunter during the 2011 skill week, why not this time? There must have been enough evidence then, just seems fishy that the moment it's a staff member doing it, that suddenly admin don't have expertise to ban, regardless of how strong the evidence is.
Re: KoA and botting
Rue stated in the CC that he had botted.
Re: KoA and botting
Well forgive me, but I have a hard time believing that, when admin explicitly said they "didn't remember" what was enough evidence back then. But I'll drop it on this side now, it's apparent what the decision is going to be from here on out.KoA Admin wrote:Rue stated in the CC that he had botted.

WOW BOTTING,
That Hurts after all the work that was put in by myself and others.
I am no expert on Botting but the majority of us were all at the same place same world.
conversation was plenty and XP was easy ....
With no boosts ... (JuJu pots .. Fam Pouches ..) i was earning a min of 100k xp an hour
Seren stones are also by design one of the best afk things in the game i have found.
so there is no need to get an external program to do it for you. Anyone that plays this game knows about the Grind.
We all deal with it in Different ways.
Set hourly and daily totals to achieve to achieve a personal Goal. I would be shocked if any of the Peeps that Participated at the Seren Stones on World 64 were Botting ..
But by all Means if anyone ever thinks im Botting Report it!! To Jagex i know i will be vindicated.

Tis' a shame if it's true.
It may just be a game, but it's better to play fair and square than to be rhombus head.

Re: KoA and botting
I haven't been on as much as I would have like to be lately, but I would like to put in my tuppence worth here:
As an 'Adult' clan admin has always tried to sort out 'potential problems' within the realms of the clan, without the need of clan members having to report anything to Jagex, bar serious real world offences, we are all adults after all...................If Admin say they can't find or justify this botting evidence, I believe they have investigated it to the best of their ability..............it's not a 'popularity' thing as many long term members have been asked to leave the clan before for 'rule breaking'.
Fox.......well said

Re: KoA and botting
Having read Sig's pm concerning botting during a clan competition, I find it interesting to hear the clan's response.
We are an adult clan, but I also remember someone who was removed from a competition for botting, but wasn't during a Hunter competition as I wasn't a member of the clan then.
I'd be interested to know how you can prove on one occasion, but not another?
Or maybe a review of our rules is in order here?
What are KoA's Rules?
Please act responsibly. Do not flame, attack, scam, take advantage of, or in any other way seek to harm the enjoyment of other KoA members and friends. Please try and respect other runescape players.
We are an adult community, therefore we do tolerate some swearing on forums, but not excessive or used in an offensive manner. You may turn the board censor off in your profile if you wish. Links to porn or any other such adult material will result in an instant ban.
Please keep inciteful debates (religion/politics etc..) to the "Debate" forum and not clan chat.
Bets/wagers between clan members is discouraged. However, if betting occurs, it should involve items of nominal gp value. It should never involve real life items.
Passive recruiting allowed to competing mediums and specialist clans only - via PM
Read the terms and conditions for use of this site.
No reporting KoA members ingame. We deal with rule breaking internally. Report by PMing an admin.
You must be 18+ to be in KoA.
You must be a member of our RS clan chat (CC): "kingdom of asgarnia".
DO NOT use your runescape password, as your KoA password.
NEVER place a staff person on your personal Ignore List.
Jagex Rules Apply.

If you can tell us who that was, we may be able to answer that.lacey days wrote: but I also remember someone who was removed from a competition for botting, but wasn't during a Hunter competition as I wasn't a member of the clan then.

Re: KoA and botting
I just find it interesting that everyone who sees the evidence knows what happened, but there isnt sufficent evidence to act by admin. But as it has been said report botting to jagex and let them sort it out, but that dosent really help when aomeone may or may not be botting a competition that ends after a week due to the way botwatch works. The way this should work is the person, if there is evidence that may lead to botting, be removed from the competition and then allow jagex to deal with the botting from there if time passes and nothing happens then fine. In the case we are looking at now the evidence sadly shows botting, we all know how bots act.

Re: KoA and botting
Why the change in the rules now? Why have we not heard from the accused? And why hasn't the person been removed from or stepped down from staff at the very least?
