Dag King Guide - in progress

Post by Mabelrose2 » Thu Apr 08, 2010 8:57 pm

THIS IS NOT COMPLETE, A WORK IN PROGRESS

There are many ways to fight Dag Kings - this is my guide, the way I prefer to fight them, if you want to go with me, please check this out.

WARNING!: Dag Kings are dangerous, you can die, and you can lose items if you die due to lag and your grave disappears before it can be blessed or you die after all others have tele'd out.

WARNING!: The Mage player cannot lootshare with the rangers, and visa versa. Mages cannot use lootshare as it's impossible to pick up the drops from the other dag's. Just not a good idea. When in a lootshare world, multiple rangers can use lootshare but fair warning, we often cant find any open lootshare world and choose to go to non-lootshare. If your range or ammo is lower than the other ranger(s) this means you will see fewer drops

First trips you will be a Range/Hybrid. The Mage role, well you need to be familiar with the place first, if you want to learn the Mage role talk to me.

Requirements:
MUMBLE - voice is necessary and required. (we cant always see each other down there)
LIFEPOINTS - Minimum 90+
DEFENSE - Minimum 90+ (higher better)
PRAYER - the higher the better, Required 70+
YOU MUST BLESS THE GRAVE OF ANY TEAMMATE WHO DIES! POT UP FIRST AND AFTER
*RANGE/HYBRID - Minimum 80+ RANGE recommended
*MAGE - Minimum 85+ MAGE recommended

Inventory requirements:
Antipoison (2-Four dose Antipoison ++ recommended)
One click tele (better if you tele than die, believe me)
Ddp++
Telekinectic Grab Runes
Crossbow and bolts (emerald or diamond recommended, not ruby)
Shield (Obby is a good choice)
FOOD, PRAYER POTS, RANGE POTS, SUPER SET, (Sara's a Supers recommended)
BoB plus at least one pouch to renew
Full Guthans recommended

TEAM
I prefer to go with one Mage (me for now but will train someone else to do this role, so multiple teams can go or you can go without me) and 1, 2 or 3 rangers

The safe spots are tricky so I will only go on a training trip if we have 1 ranger who as been there with me before and 1 or 2 new trainees. Maximum 3 rangers, and myself or myself plus 1 mage "Trainee" for the mage role and 1-3 rangers. As the mage I cannot "show" you the range spot, an experienced ranger must show you.

The Mage role can be boring except for the entry, you alone must go down, give Supreme a few swats, then lure Rex away before giving the "All clear" to the team to come down, finish off Supreme and then Prime. You MUST have good lifepoints, high defense to do this without dying.

THINGS TO REMEMBER:

PROTECT MAGE - WHEN IN DOUBT, PROTECT MAGE, PRIME CAN HIT 600'S

PRIME = THE MAGE DAG, ONLY WAY TO DAMAGE/KILL IS TO RANGE PROTECT MAGE IF PRIME IS ALIVE
SUPREME = THE RANGER DAG, ONLY WAY TO DAMAGE/KILL IS MELEE
REX = THE MELEE DAG, ONLY WAY TO DAMAGE/KILL IS MAGE

If someone dies, BLESS THE GRAVE - we will be on mumble, and decide if all leave or just one person who clearly knows the route will leave and escort our dearly departed teammate back to his/her grave. You need a partner to get through the doors.

Its a shame these things don't have a better drop table for what a pain in the arse they are.

On the contrary Trix, I find they've some of the better consistent drops. With a yak to bank bones/hides your pretty much guaranteed 1m/h hybriding. Add the talisman's they drop and a decent drop every two hours (a reasonable rate I've heard) and you're looking at 1.5m+ per hour which is way better than other bosses (ie GWD) imo.

Thank you Mabel. As per your advice I wont even attempt to come with you till I reach decent combat stats. Armor pictures and minimum combat stats will help combat noobs like me, so that we can start stacking up on the levels and the gp :) I am so looking forward to this some day in future

I wonder if the Kings BBQ Beef first, or just eat him raw? :P
