New Slayer Creature: Fire Cape Required!

The humungous and deathly strykewyrms are happy to harmlessly tunnel about RuneScape, but they have trained senses that can smell a slayer from a mile off. Those who are assigned a strykewyrm task will find that they lure strykewyrms from the ground, but they may wish they hadn't; once roused, a strykewyrm will do their very best to take them down!

Three breeds of strykewyrm are known to the Slayer masters of Runescape: jungle strykewyrms (level 73 Slayer) can be found near the coast north-west of Oo'glog; desert strykewyrms (level 77 Slayer) stir the sand east of Al Kharid (over the stile by the palace); and ice strykewyrms (level 93 Slayer [level 220 btw]) churn up the ice in a cave near to where you find the Muspah (but only after you've completed the Tale of the Muspah). Ice strykewyrm assignments are unique to Kuradal. You will need to own a TzHaar fire cape to be assigned them, and you will need to wear a fire cape to inflict any damage.

According to Jmod (Chris), you need to be wearing the firecape when getting your new assignment from Kuradel.

Ugh...looks like I'll be needing to go through the fight caves sometime between now and 93 slayer. Its a little annoying that I'll have to spend 1-2 hours in order to be assigned a high level slayer monster (once I hit 93 that is).

I disagree since Nomad's attacks occur in a predetermined order which simply required eating to max or more than 75 hp at the correct times.

Jad (at least how I understand it, never been) attacks randomly and you need to be a decent prayer switcher in order to survive. Then theres also the fact that it takes a long time to get a chance at Jad, whereas Nomad is easily accessible to attempt several times.

I'll worry about a fire cape once i hit 93 slayer. But, then again, i haven't even hit 90 yet, so no worries here.

Yeah from what I've heard Jad is all about timing, its just the pain of sitting through 64(?) waves of enemies first that I'm dreading. Maybe once I've the ranger addition to my slayer helm and do a Jad task I'll get the cape.

Man...I always thought Jad was a waste of 2 hours for a cape I'll never wear, and now they go and force it on me. I think I'll wait a few weeks for Jagex to answer the major feuding going on in the Recent Updates forum before I try for the fire cape.

Really, it's not so much an effort thing than that this kind of leaves those players without a good connection speed in the dust.

i don't see why they would require a freely played non-slayer oriented mini game reward, to all of a sudden be mandatory to slay a new monster
giving 'volcanic creatures' as an assignment was cute & the xp bonus if you killed jad was almost worth the 750k+gp you wasted and the 2 hours of time spent
...but to introduce a new slayer creature that can only be killed if you own this purely melee cmb oriented cape (many of which have been commonly rwt bought) is sorta absurd

it is a failed attempt at 'elite content' imo
