The future of the quest cape

Post by Dr Brad » Thu Jan 14, 2010 2:28 pm

Interesting excerpt from "Game Update FAQ - 11/01/10" at RSOF:
"What was wrong with raising the requirements for the Quest Cape slowly, like you've done in the past?"

We feel that we have raised the quest cape requirements slowly. All of the levels required are only slightly above those required for other quests. This quest does feature some heavy combat challenges, but we believe that they are appropriate for the users we are targeting the content towards - Grand Masters.

The requirements are appropriate for the quest itself and the difficulty of the quest. We think that it presents a good challenge for players and believe that it is good to have something to work for in the game, such as to re-attain your quest cape (as opposed to simply having to take it off for a few hours after each quest update).

Wearing a quest cape will eventually become more challenging than any skill cape.

Oh, and if you think the final fight is too hard...
"It's too hard! Could you make it easier/give us some hints?"

From the Developer's mouth:

"Too hard? Nomad is too easy! I wanted him to be much harder! Nomad himself will give you all the hints you need to defeat him while you battle him, so pay close attention to what is happening during the fight!"

Those whiny kids will complain about everything and expect stuff to be handed to them without having to actually earn it. I'm struggling with this very thing with my 18 year old son right now, and that attitute is SERIOUSLY pissing me off. The RS kids are even worse.

We notice it in the army too. Belgian army is only for volunteers, there's no forced recruitment.
New kids (18-19y old) don't last longer than 3 months. They think it's too rough, don't wanna be away from home or dislike the authority.
Too spoiled I guess :(

I'm not sure about what's going to happen with the cape, I like the fact that requirements are increasing, I think that it is good that there is a strong combat requirement for the cape now, rather than people just using a guide for every quest and browsing forums for the final fight due to it being so easy.
This does conflict slightly with the fact that I am a combat wimp, and this new quest is the only one that I have yet to do! It will make me feel like I will have really deserved the QC though, once/if I get it back. I'd rather wear a QC any day rather than having a cooking/fletching cape that I didn't have to work for at all.

All i know is i heard that theres a chance i might take damage during a quest boss fight and got excited lol. I dont have a quest cape as alot of quests seem boring and the rewards for the most part are not worth doing the quest for.

However i did like this quest, the fight was very exciteing to me. As for the players that are complaining throughout rs. I cant understand why lol. I mean the boss fight for wgs was so simple, u wrecked the elemental then stood by the stone which boosted ur stats by like 200 lol.

Bout time some of these noobs earned there qps lol.
