26-Oct-2009 - Anti-‘76k’ing Measures
As many of you know, since the opening of PvP Worlds, ‘76k'ing has become a very common practice. We've never been happy about this as we believe it spoils the game experience for players who want to play on PvP Worlds as intended and exhibit their PvP skills, with high rewards for high risks, rather than it being a safe method for earning large amounts of money. Looking at our forums, it looks like many players feel the same way.
Designing and developing a solution to this issue that worked, but which did not lessen the rewards for legitimate kills, turned out to be rather tricky. We're hopeful that the solution we've come up with will reduce 76King without having too significant an impact on legitimate PKers.
Players who trade kills will find that the drop they receive is lessened in value. Legitimate PKers might find that some of their kills will result in smaller drops (e.g. when getting revenge on someone who has just killed you), but since you'll still only lose as much Earning Potential as is used for the drop, your average drop will stay the same.

Do you guys think this is enough to stop 76king? I don't see why this wasn't in place in the first place but with so many cheaters, i don't think it would be that hard to find another person to 76k with

People are just tricking with multiple friends, rather than back and forth now. It was a nice effort, but I doubt it'll stop it.

lol Who they kidding this will never stop. they need to move the wild back in the wild. back it off, making a whole world PVP Is just Plain dumb. Only way out of This Is shut down the PVP totally. And am sure this is whats going to happen. People Dont realize how Much GPS is spent by Clans the PVP. I go through Aveage 500 swordies, 5 sets of rune a week. One day in the wild waring or pk. U can spend 300k to 500k Your Lucky to break even. mages spend twice that. So when you sell your runes in GE. They are usally being bought up By Pkers. The Pay PVP Is close to 700k So 76trick not gonna go away Ever.

I can't see why they just don't implement the simplest of solutions to stop this. Your drop can't be higher than what your opponent is risking. The rest of the actual system can stay that way, it will just stop 76k-ing, and real pk-ers can still kill eachother and get a good drop.
To this attempt to stop it: I heard that you can't just use an extra friend to kill and avoid this new rule. Jagex didn't make it that easy, but I bet there will soon enough be good possibilities to still do 76k-ing. To me it is just cheating, and harming the honest Runescapers who work for their money. If it was up to me, I'd just make it a reportable offence.

In my opinion they should make it like old times and the pker gets what the other person risked.

Gotta love the panic selling most rs players are doing at this update:

I don't get it. Why are people selling off high dollar combat gear cheap because of this update?

Re: 26-Oct-2009 - Anti-‘76k’ing Measures
Because they're worried that the value will decrease, because they think that a lot of people won't be 76king, and therefore will be unable to afford it. The 76kers who own this gear don't tend to actually use it, just own it for show. However, they never get to show it off. I guess the point being is that they don't want it for its stats, but its status. And now they're worried about their investment. I'll just hold onto my gear =D

I've done a few 76k tricks myself, but its incredibly boring and adds nothing to the game other than fast cash.
I agree with those here who have said that pkers should only get the value of what the other person is risking. It worked fine in the old days.
Why the need to reward people with a £1m drop for killing a player who was just risking 76k? It has never made sense.
Only giving the value of what the other player is risking will end 76k tricking.
