Player owned ports - What benefits are there from it?
I've just started playing Player Owned Ports game (having just hit 90 in one of the required skills) and was wondering what exactly are the benefits to be had from it. Is it a waste of a lot of time and a little bit of money, or is it a worthwhile investment? What are the benefits of this game?

It will take u quite a while to get there but, you can get excellent armor, scrimshaws, and rocktail soup from doing ports, if you follow through with it long enough.

I've made all 3 sets of armour and just been selling the rest I make, it's made me a fair bit of cash and the rocktail soups always come in handy, hardly every use fish or food now except those. Like Mager says it takes a bit of time but once you got all the scrolls and can make the armour and stuff I think it's worth it

It would be totally worth it only for the scrimshaws, everything else makes it even better.

As said above, it takes a lot of time to get anything out of it, but its very useful
Lvl 85 tank armor, which is the best tank armor in the game.
Lvl 85 darts, which are pretty inexpensive for their damage output.
Scrimshaws which help combat a lot, or skilling (pocket slot)
Rocktail soups which are the best 1 click food in the game
Lvl 85 Ring which has a 5% chance to block 50% damage
Lvl 85 tank cape
Everything except the darts can be made into an inferrior version and sold on the Grand exchange for some good money as well.
Additionally you can get experience every week by helping Meg out in ports.

It is worth it to stay playing and improving your ships and crews as you move up through the different regions. Don't get discouraged by failure of missions. In the end you will have some great gear for high level bosses and other monsters.

Another question. Is it worth buying resources from the black marketeer, or is that just a waste of money and you're better just getting all the resources through voyages?

That's waste of money only thing to spend coins in there is for 'ship repair'. Later in the port activity you'll have over flow of resources and probably sell some to 'The Trader'.Lord Aelfgar wrote:Another question.
