Honestly, for hubby & I, the new comp was definitely worth it. We use online banking, bill pay etc...the kids don't. That's why we went with giving them the old one. Nothing they mess with is at threat by them using it...where as if one of the adults used it, it would be our entire lives messed with.

A very important issue. And also one of the reasons why I would never throw away or sell an old computer without making sure all of my personal data is removed.
This is no problem if you have no intention of selling it (or throwing it away).
However, if you still have any important data stored on your computer.. This might still be at risk if the virus remains. Surely if the computer is still being used.
Don't get me wrong.. I'm not telling you what to do.. Just trying to help and keep you safe. =)
