You don't need to do the quest to get the medallion, access, disguise or the weapons. Just leave the boss fight out and there won't be any XP for you Star 8)

I hate that town where you cant go anywhere without climbing up and down and jump and stuff. Do you have to run around a lot in there for this quest?

Yes, unfortunately there's a bit of running around in Meiyerditch for this quest. The whole thing took me 4 hours (no guide or anything). I heard jagex is putting up their own walkthrough? Might cut the time down immensely. It was pretty fun, though.

It's really not hard without the guide. Detailed directions are given on your quest guide. It is a little long, and the boss fight is a little trying. Similar to Nomad on the quest-boss scale.

A little trying? I've yet to defeat him, lag is fatal and I have lots of it.

September 7: checked my speed this am and found the latency was 75 ms, about as good as it gets where I live and I beat Vanstrom to complete the quest. The tomes are nice, unlike the ones you get from temple trekking you can use them on any skill.

Even with the lower lag time I still took a lot of damage from the blood attacks. I had a full load of rocktails plus a war tort with extra food (yes, you can bring a familiar). Also, I did not wear any of the Vyre gear using instead arma gear and I found the spikes were the best wep, fletching 100 of them. I did not bother to carry the staff.

Good luck
