Rollback Musings

Post by onezerobin » Wed Apr 14, 2010 5:12 pm

I was just wondering,

Imagine someone beating nomad in their 30th or 40th try during the roll back time :)

Please add any such scenarios you can think of. We can make a game of this while rs is updating :)

I hope they dont have to rollback too far or atleast if they do, I believe people who exploited this bug with the intent to level should be banned. It would be easy to see who gained 500k+ exp in a few minutes Im sure and those who did, Why would we want them along to exploit the next one.

It would be horrible to get a costly drop minutes before the rollback.

I was thinking more on the lines of getting a arma hilt or finally getting that divine drop from FFA Corp. Or maybe something rare like 3rd age plate from a clue then when you come back the best you get is firelighters..

According to RSOF:
When the servers come back up with this bug fixed, we shall also be rolling back everyone's entire save game state to the point where this bug was introduced (which should be no more than about 30 minutes' worth).

Bleh, 17:23 BST
Hi,
A recent update for the Dungeoneering skill has generated a bug that causes significant increases in XP gain.
As a result, we shall temporarily be closing down the servers until this issue can be resolved. When the servers come back up with this bug fixed, we shall also be rolling back everyone's entire save game state to the point where this bug was introduced (which should be no more than about 30 minutes' worth).
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
The High Scores tables have been rolled back to 1am GMT. This only effects the high scores temporarily. As soon as people log back in, the accurate figures (from 17:24 GMT) will be displayed.

Mod Nexus - Edit:
There will definitely be a rollback to just before the servers rebooted with the latest update approx 17.23 BST. This will take a while as there's a lot of data to copy from our storage system to the login servers.
I'll keep you informed on this thread.

maybe a few people who died right before the rollback and lost some really expensive stuff can enjoy this once in a life time break.

its not like a rollback is a easy thing to do. And with hundreds of thousands of players to rollback, i can see where it could take a little while. I suggest we all do something extreme while we wait.....like go outside..
