Death penalty changes

So this has been posted on the forums.

Pretty interesting. It will be great for disconnects and add penalty for death for non-hardcore accounts.

I may have to train myself to die less.

I don't like this. The gravestone system worked fine and didn't cost any money. There was always plenty of time to get back to your gravestone.

IMO that was exactly the problem.. it didn't cost money to die.. at least relatively very little.

it looks to me a fair balance..

it adds a money sink which is something the game desperately needs. In my opinion in a fair place.. you die.. you lose money. Otherwise what's the punishment of dying.. having to walk back to where you were? (by walk I mean use one of the heaps of the current teleports and basically be back almost anywhere in less than 2 mins)

it adds risk back to many "high level" things, which makes them more of a challenge and IMO more fun, rather than just another way to grind for xp or gp.

it does so in a fairly balanced way - those like me who think gravestones turned RS into a risk free game and should never have been a part of the game get a little of what they want, those who don't want to risk tons of money and might be put off by huge losses taking part in PvM also get a little of what they want in that costs are relatively low. IE especially with bonuses active you will likely have to die 10+ times to lose the value of your inventory.

it may help the skilling economy a little (not sure how much - I guess we'll see)

tentatively, it looks ok.

I gotta agree with Deep. I have never feared death in the game simply because I could almost always get back my items. The only time I have ever been upset is when I was PKed in the wild wearing trimmed Addy armor (didn't know any better). And looking at the cost to get items back, it seems like a pretty small amount even if you are wearing millions worth of gear.

This is not a thread about bringing in the death penalty for ddos'ing then? ;)

I know it's not the same, but playing a hardcore account has really spiced up the game for me.
Fear of death does make a lot of difference - and, for me, it makes it more interesting.

If it makes people have to think a bit more about what they are doing, instead of everything being risk free - I think it might be a good change.

I don´t like this.
I do understand the reasons of the update ( money sink, more risk of death) but I don´t like it at all.
