Amazing Race KOA Style - Important Poll for planning info
Are you familiar with "The Amazing Race" reality show? Well get ready for Amazing Race KOA Style coming soon!
This could be one long event, or an event split into multiple weeks. The number of legs will be based on the number of teams to start, so will be determined after registration.
The starting time will probably be around 5 or 6pm UTC (Noonish Eastern)
When you register, you will register as an individual. You will be teamed up at random with another competitor, matching higher levels with lower levels trying to keep the teams with close to same total levels
I will also need assistance, a couple of people who won't be competitors but assist me with overseeing different legs of the race, detours, road blocks and giving the next clue as competitors complete tasks. If this is multi-week event, assistants can sign on for just one or two weeks.
In order to best prepare for the event and prior to the actual registration, I need to find out a bit of information to better assist the planning and scheduling which is the purpose of this poll/thread
Please vote and feel free to add comments or suggestions.
I see this working best as an event spread over three weeks, three consecutive Saturdays or Sundays but need to know if there is a willingness or interest.
I think we can do this with a minimum of 10 competitors/5 teams.
Oh, and I am hoping anyone who is assisting will be willing to fill in if we have a competitor drop out leaving a teammate without a partner, so for that reason will not share details of too many legs with anyone.

I love the idea!
Do all the teams start in the same time? ( it can be difficult to get ppl on in the same time, especially if they are teamed up.. what happens if someone from team doesn´t show up? )

Re: Amazing Race KOA Style - Important Poll for planning info
Yes teams will start at the same time
I hope to have enough "assistants" available to cover for anyone who is a no show
We will start with a clue - clues may involve finding someone, bringing an item or doing a task...
Legs - next steps can be clues, or detours where the team can choose one of two tasks.. or a road block where 1 member of the team must complete a task to get next clue
It's a race, so depending on how many start, the last team or two that reach the pit stop will be eliminated.
For the 2nd and third rounds I am hoping those who were eliminated in round 1 may serve as backups or substitutes for any no-shows in rounds 2 and 3
does this make sense?

Who ever is on my team will be the winner. I will win this event. That's about all I have to say.

I had to look it up, myself. If you can trust Wiki...Dr Brad wrote:Lol....seriously, GMT and UTC are different?Mabelrose2 wrote:1 hour lol
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinated_Universal_Time
In casual use, when fractions of a second are not important, Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) can be considered equivalent to UTC or UT1.
Re: Amazing Race KOA Style - Important Poll for planning info
Have no clue what "the amazing race" is, but might be interested. One snagg tho: gotta work the 15th and 22nd of may.
"There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."

Re: Amazing Race KOA Style - Important Poll for planning info
I can only do it if it's at night GMT time (9:30 PM and onwards)
4PM GMT is too early, for everyone. Maybe belate it a bit? Maybe sacrifice a few SCs or rescedule them?
