Yes, if you die with the cannon set up. If you die with it in your inventory it acts as a normal item (keep or lose).

They don't help an awful lot s'matter o' fact. They hit the core every now and then, but the damage done to the Beast (a hit once in 10-20 shots) is so rare that it's negligible.

Was fun, only way it would've been better would be getting a sigil (or elixer).
