SotC: Build Tick 14

Post by Tamal » Tue Oct 25, 2011 6:41 pm

Welcome to the State of the Citadel, Build Tick 14, where I post our weekly progress building the best award-winning citadel resources can buy.

The Important Part
Gather 10% of your cap at the Summoning Obelisk. Cut at least 4585 logs, mine 4530 stone, smith 3000 bars and 1425 precious bars, and weave 2800 cloth this week. Check the target goals in-game to see what needs to be worked on.

What's New
We have a Loom and a Summoning plot, as well as new nice fancy plants scattered about the Citadel. The Kiln has been moved next to the Woodcutting Plot and the Mine moved next to the Furnace. It's also nighttime to fit in with the Halloween festivities :)

Upkeep
Logs: 3435
Stone: 3280
Bars: 2570
Precious Bars: 1275
Cloth: 0

Upgrades (selected)
T5 Storehouse: 2500 logs, 2000 stone, 750 bars, 900 precious bars, 2500 cloth*
T5 Battlefield: 900 logs, 1500 stone, 1500 bars, 1800 precious bars, 3600 cloth
T5 Woodcutter: 1700 logs, 1000 stone, 150 bars, 70 precious bars, 200 cloth
T5 Mine: 350 logs, 650 stone, 400 bars, 200 precious bars, 350 cloth
T5 Kiln: 900 logs, 800 stone, 250 bars, 150 precious bars, 300 cloth
T5 Furnace: 700 logs, 1600 stone, 100 bars, 100 precious bars, 350 cloth
T2 Loom: 250 logs, 450 stone, 180 bars
T2 Summoning: 270 logs, 270 stone, 70 bars, 70 precious bars, 255 cloth

*partial payment

Customizations
Grand Armadyl Statue 38% complete (28542/80000 stone, 9000/25000 bars, 8233/20000 pbars)
Pristine Keep Door 1% complete (532/200000 logs, 0/20000 bars, 0/20000 pbars)

Resources
Try and do 10% of your cap at the Obelisk. Do not over-gather ore or charcoal as we cannot store them in the storehouse, we want to finish the week with 0 ore and 0 charcoal. We're gathering for a T2 Loom and T5 Kiln, as well as finishing the partial payment for T5 Storehouse. This leaves the total upkeep + upgrade resource requirement at a low 4585 logs, 4530 stone, 3000 bars, 1425 precious bars, and 2800 cloth. In-game targets have been set to reflect this. After the upkeep + upgrade requirements are met I'll adjust the goals upward to cover customizations. Customizations always come after any building upgrades.

Next Week
We'll get a Loom (Crafting) and an Obelisk (Summoning).

How to read the resources screen
To access the resources screen, click the Citadel Interface button (where you'd normally bring up the map) and then click the view resources tab:

The different resources are listed, along with the quantity gathered. The red bar shows how much we need for upkeep, this is the most critical. Yellow is how much we need for the marked building upgrades, also critical for our progress. The green is the surplus that'll be put towards customizations or stored in the storehouse. The blue marker (not shown) is our primary target while the yellow markers are other targets. I set these targets to (usually) upkeep + upgrade + storehouse cap.

You can find a simplified version in your production tab:

Here we see that there is much more stone gathered than timber, so in this case you should concentrate your efforts on cutting roots. As more and more types of resources are gathered it'll be your responsibility to check these screens and determine where your efforts are needed.

I'm probably missing something...but is there a reason why we can't start gathering for the T6 Citadel?

T6 Citadel requires at least T5 Kiln, T5 Furnace, T5 Obelisk, and T5 Loom before we can even mark it to upgrade. I think T5 Storehouse as well. Thus we'll have a few weeks of getting the Loom and Obelisk up to speed before we can start.

Ok, I wasn't sure if it required everything in the citadel to be the same tier before upgrading or not. Thanks for clarifying. :)

I tried looking in the citadel and on rs site but couldn't find the answer, only bothered you as a last option.

Yeah I'm hoping that'll really speed up with better tiers.

Quick question, can excess summoning and loom resources be stored in storehouse? Don't wanna go over goal if they being wasted.

Minions, charcoal, ore and precious ore do not get carried over weekly. Cloth, stone, bars and wood do, albeit at a crappy % of what you collect... Given that no cloth goes towards any grand items, and we are over our limit already, we should probably stop making cloth and concentrate on bars (I almost wrote bras then - we do have the cloth...)

Also, i was pretty disappointed with the summoning obelisk, although a nice little graphic to show the minion being created :)

From the Game Manual:
"The percentage and cap per resource applies to the following finished resources: timber, stone, cloth and rations. Minions, charcoal, ore and precious ore do not get carried across from one build tick to another."

Bummer :(

to be fair, we will never be in a position to carry over minions, as they will always translate at 1:1 for free resources, and given that we have lots of grand items to make, this won't be a problem for us...

Curanir speaks the truth... and I'll look for a customization to put surplus cloth on, but the focus should still be on our statue.
