Re: KoA transition from FC --> CC
Completely embarrassingly missed this topic at first.
I'm all for the transition to CC rather than FC. The only question is how come we can't keep it open for guests? We already have guests essentially with the clan friend status.

Re: KoA transition from FC --> CC
(1) We want commitment (aka membership) for individuals to be in the CC --> community...community
(2) If guests are allowed, then unknown individuals can enter the CC and lurk. We don't think members will want that.

Re: KoA transition from FC --> CC
I'm for the cc thing as long as other fc dont start with same restrictions we are going to have
I wouldn't mind having cc open for quests tho , problem players can always get banned from the chat if it happens

I support this move!
And I agree about the guest access thingy - the last clan I was in, quite a few random people entered and caused problems - which made it uncomfy. And admins weren't always around to boot 'em out... So members ended up having to turn chat off - which they shouldn't have to do.

Re: KoA transition from FC --> CC
Yeah... I'm probably gonna have to leave. :[ It's a shame you take that stance on guests. I, personally, have never been concerned with lurkers; I mean, I'm on the internet. Lurking is what people are expected to do on forums ('lurk moar' ) and, sure, while not so nigh-completely innocuous in something like a cc, (and are troublemakers really that common anyway?) it's something that surely you can expect other members to be ok with, rather than defaulting everyone as a wee bit paranoid? Maybe worth a poll? :\ What with how it's essentially going to be kicking members out.
And I do disagree that closing doors to guests leads to a better community. In my experience (for what it's worth) with guilds etc. across multiple MMOs, it's having fresh members that keeps a clan thriving. Sure, KoA has the fact that it is one of the few adult clans on runescape going for it. You know, it keeps it sought out, rather than relying on 'passing trade', as it were. Even so, I've never known members who turn up only once in a while to detract from the communal experience.
I mean, I had a long break from the clan, myself. I've only been back, what, two months? Was my reappearance really so bad? Was I having trouble interacting and socialising? No - not to me, anyway; hopefully not to anyone else, either. What I hope is that people have enjoyed my company, even if I haven't known them for several months or do not necessarily plan on staying for all of the forseeable future and becoming fast friends. I certainly know I've enjoyed your company, even if most of you are unfamiliar to me; I'm sorry if I'm the only one who feels that way.

Re: KoA transition from FC --> CC
If someone wants to get to know KoA, they only need join. Problem solved. And, if they find KoA is not their cup of tea later on, they can easily leave. No hard feelings. Problem solved again. We even let ppl "try us out" for a few days if they want to test the KoA waters. Seems pretty accommodating to me. Want fresh blood? Recruit some friends. Not clear why limiting full access to members is such a big deal.
Re: KoA transition from FC --> CC
If it were just full access that would be one thing; this is all access. Sorry if I sound aggressive about it all; I'm really not. There's just a lot that I felt I had to say. It's not like I want to leave.

It's a shame you feel the need to leave Takuna. Does your other clan not allow guests in the CC?Takuna wrote:Yeah... I'm probably gonna have to leave. :[ It's a shame you take that stance on guests. I think it is perfectly fine that in your opinion lurkers are not a problem and just part of the internet, but I disagree with your view that it should be ok to expect other members to be ok with this. Lurking on a forum and lurking in a chatroom (which is what CC basically is) are 2 different things. For the record I do not want people lurking on our forums either.
I also don't see why anyone wanting to be in 2 different clans expect KoA to be the ones to bend the rules and allow guests in the CC rather than the other clan people are in. Can't the other clan/clans allow people to be guests also, not just KoA?
Also it is not essentially kicking people out of the clan, they have a choice whether to remain with KoA or remain in another clan. We have a great community here and if people choose to spend their time with another community, that is perfectly fine. We will be here to welcome anyone back with open arms should they choose to do so.
Regarding your last comment, you seem to have no trouble interacting or socialising with anyone and I'm sure I speak for many people, it has been a pleasure having you around.
I know some people have a tough decision to make, but I do believe this is the right thing to do for the good of the clan.

Re: KoA transition from FC --> CC
As far as allowing anyone in the CC, I have been in clans with open CC's and with members only CC's. I STRONGLY prefer the latter. I have seen two clans fall apart because they left the CC open and immature visitors/disgruntled former members came in often and harrassed members. In particular, a new member will often leave forever if they see bad behavior in the CC even once. Personally, I agree with Admin that a closed CC fosters community.

Ditto Darth.
I have been on the receiving end of various malicious and juvenile attacks in another cc because there has not been a ranked member around to deal with a situation.
This is the right course of action to take, I just think it is a shame you feel you need to close your doors to people who are currently good members for the sake of a rule. I understand your need for loyalty, I understand your need to drive the clan forward. I just wish I wasn't one of those people who is being effected by your choices.

Re: KoA transition from FC --> CC
I wish there could be a kind of "grandfather clause" for current members to stay on as guests, while new members would have to join the cc. But, I don't think such an option exists.
