This was an interesting read Deep....

Tbh i had no idea that "ts" was actual talking into mics with fellow clan, and im sure im not the only tech noob who never realised this. Personally i have only ever chatted one on one using msn, but since i now live with Hid, the mics have become redundant lol

May i suggest a possible clan event to see who is really interested in using this, with interested parties copying and pasting a list while adding their own name?

Also, another thought is.... not every adult (looks in the mirror) is a tech nerd and i temporarily go blind reading some of the stuff you guys discuss lol.....

Would it be possible to post a 'simpleton's' version on how to install/use this 'TS' ?

I'd certainly be interested in Teamspeak or ventrilo, simply for ease of discussion. I'm a noobie with this type of thing but I am more than willing to learn. :D

Ditto with Geve on the simplified instructions please. That is one reason I haven't gotten up and running with it since joining. The directions bring to mind Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?

We have noting to fear but fear itself!

I think what everyone would benifit from would be instruction that included screen shots with arrows or circles showing where to input the different data. I am NOT a techy by any stretch of the imagination and i know trying to follow written directions can be confusing. I know using these type instructions (with pictures) are much easier to understand than written directions.

It really isn't as hard as the written directions make it out to be. Typically it a one time download and then 2 or 3 pieces of data (username, password, etc.) inputed to certain boxes (fields).

Personally, I love TS and Vent. I used it a fair amount on Guild Wars and you really feel like you get to know your Guild (or clan). Plus, it's an AMAZING asset for any team activities.

The cost, however... Can't that be avoided by using your computer as the server, or something like that...? My Guild Leader on GW used to do this, since he was basically permanently online and was therefore able to keep it open. This means it wouldn't always be up but still, it'd be free. Perhaps if this was used as a method to see if there was any interest in TS? Or to let people try it out and see if they like it?
As for how such a thing is done? I haven't a clue.

And just a little tip for people who don't like push to talk, I always assign it to mouse button 3. So I just hold the scoller-thingy down whenever I need to talk. (Which I find more convenient, anyway.) If you don't have three buttons on your mouse... oh well. :P

EDIT: Aaaand I did not even bother to see how old this topic was...

I don't have much experience with TS or Vent. But with an old clan i was part of years ago we used Skype. It worked well and was free. :)

Teamspeak and Ventrilo are nice, but they aren't really needed so much in RuneScape. It was nice, but I used it maybe once or twice and generally when I did use it there was only a couple people in there(normally the same people as well).

Since there's already been a mention of Skype I really like that program. I don't think it would be too difficult to do a conference call with a few people. The only problem with Skype is it does take up a decent amount of your computer's power to keep it up. It's not a problem for some of us with good computers, but weak laptops and desktops might start making RuneScape lag with Skype up and in use. However, Skype has amazing call quality and the only problem I've ever had with it was just because I was using wireless internet.

My vote is for no Teamspeak and Ventrilo just because the cost-to-use ratio isn't very good. But free software for this kind of interaction would be nice :).

Well, seeing as I think fast, but type slow, I've recently started to become more inclined to vote for re-instating some sort of voice interaction protocol.
I've never used any before, so I really have no idea how they compare to one another.
Frankly, I don't really see how it matters, tbh.

Of course I vote for a free one/style/whatever.
I firmly believe in free stuff.
Someone was saying, just the other day, that his friend has a vent server, and could assign a channel for us.
Can't remember who exactly, though.
