Re: Use of the New Clan Chat
Update. This was posted to the Clan Leaders forum a few days ago by Mod Kathy:
We are looking into the idea of getting the clan name removed from the CC so that wouldn't be an issue anymore.

Sounds good!

Re: Use of the New Clan Chat
Honestly sounds like good idea to me. Glad to see they are still working on class system.

good idea
Re: Use of the New Clan Chat
Just curious, could use of the KoA cc be reconsidered for chat purposes? It seems kind of redundant to be in 2 koa chats (fc/cc) all the time, especially for those folks that like to explore other friends chats (penguins, corp beast, actual friends' chats, etc.) and must leave the only active KoA chat to do so.
If not, okies
Just thought I'd ask on behalf of myself and some other KoAers.
If not, okies

Re: Use of the New Clan Chat
We currently have two CCs:mozcheez wrote:Just curious, could use of the KoA cc be reconsidered for chat purposes? 1) Friends chat: [KoA Clan] -- currently our main chat
2) Clan chat: [Kingdom of Asgarnia] -- needed for Clan Citadel access, to wear KoA clan cape, to wield KoA vellixum. This chat remains muted for the time being.
What are others' thoughts? Please discuss.
Re: Use of the New Clan Chat
My thoughts...hostile takeover of the clan labeled "KoA" in runescape clans, that way we can have "KoA" as the cc name and no big problem with a long precursor in front of all text.
On a more serious note, what if we made a clan chat "KoA Clan" instead of "Kingdom of Asgarnia". That way there isn't the big problem with [Kingdom of Asgarnia] in front of the chat. Or is that name taken as well? Though I suppose its too late for that now that we're working on the citadel.
My only thoughts is to pester Jagex about shortening the name in front of the cc text. Thats probably the best solution.

Re: Use of the New Clan Chat
Both Koa Clan and KoA cc are free to use.
however, the main issues why the friends cc was decided to use are still there as far as I know ( see Brads first post)

Re: Use of the New Clan Chat
You already know what I think of it (go cc go)
No LC/CS - we can still keep the "KoA Clan" friend chat or host event in some other friend chat, it would also keep a better overview of the event.
[Kingdom of Asgarnia] being to long and the double // signs - This is rather a question of getting used to and as the Jagex mentioned they are going to fix it, the question is only when. Maybe we should go on their nerves to speed up the process?
Members of the "Kingdom of Asgarnia" CC cannot also be members of another clan - Most of the pk or activity clans operate in friend chat. Which means that those people in KoA who would be affected by this are members of similar community as KoA and that rather incredible because being in two active chats and active by themselves would be tiring, time consuming and requires a lot of attention.
Only Admins can kick members from CC. (lower ranks can only kick guests) - This is the only problem with what I can't argue, there should be at least some lower ranked members (selectable) than admins to temp kick or ban people other than quests.

Re: Use of the New Clan Chat
If it ain't broke, why fix it? I can't see any reason to switch to cc. Fc is working just fine. In my opinion, there's very little to gain and a lot to lose.

Re: Use of the New Clan Chat
And.. in clan cc you should use // instead of / which wastes our precious RS time every time we talk by 0.3 seconds.
I rather agree with Snow, I don´t see any good reason why we should switch to clan cc ( unless we want to kick people who are in other clans because they cant be in 2 clan cc-s

Re: Use of the New Clan Chat
From Moz's post, she feels things could be improved. If I understand her correctly, she would like to remain in clan CC with the ability to talk but also having access to another Friend CC, such as a peng CC or an sc cc. Currently, with the KoA Clan Friend CC, she must leave it when accessing another Friend CC.

Re: Use of the New Clan Chat
Another advantage of the new CC on the administrative side is our no longer needing to feed the Runehead membership list. Trust me, with the numerous and frequent name changes, that's a big plus.
Re: Use of the New Clan Chat
That sums it up perfectly, Brad - thank you. And thanks for agreeing to more discussion about this. It does seem that others like things the way they are or see no reason to change. No harm no foul - that's what I like about KoA is that we can openly discuss things with no hard feelings, and nearly every opinion can be voiced.Dr Brad wrote:From Moz's post, she feels things could be improved. I have the type of personality where I'm always concerned with what other people think or how other people feel, and I can't help but raise a couple of points:
Having the fc and cc both devoted to KoA could be limiting to those who enjoy the social aspect of RS and enjoy chatting all the time. I, personally, am not one of those folks and the only other FCs I visit are for minigames/penguins, etc. However, I have a lot of friends who chat with their clan in their separate CCs but also hold their own conversations in a separate FC to keep in touch and can't help but think that some members of KoA would benefit from the changeover. In speaking with those friends, they truly appreciate being able to use the separate methods of chat in the game.
I like what Devil pointed about about Coinshared events - having event participants in a separate FC could help events be more organized and those in the CC with no interest at all in, for example, mole hunting (lol at the example I chose) wouldn't have their chat bombarded with "NORTH EAST!" "DEAD!" "IT'S HERE IN THE MIDDLE!".
Jagex still hasn't created the ability to shorten names for CC yet? Noobs....

Re: those that might go to PK FC chats and remain in the clan CC if chatting were enabled.... if the chatting is too much to keep up with you can easily just choose to view only the friends chat window, turn off cc chat, or leave the CC room (thus disabling the chat).
Also, I understand where you two are coming from, Ashlee and Kal. I agree that the system we have in place now seems to be working fine, I just believe it's possible that it could improve.
Lastly, and this is the most important I think: Until the Citadel came around, there seemed to be no true benefit to belonging to our KoA clan in RS, other than loyalty. To be honest, I left it for awhile because I wanted to see what it was like to be in an active CC and an active FC (KoA). I enjoyed having the 2 chats: although I tend to be pretty quiet, I keep up with the conversations and contribute when can. It shook things up a bit and made the game a little more interesting. However, as soon as Citadels came out, I rejoined the KoA clan in-game because that's where my loyalty truly lies, and I wanted to give my support to our Citadel. Just curious, how many KoA members are (or are not) in the official RS clan through the game? If we ever use the resources/features/rankings available to clans and many of our members aren't officially in the CC (i.e. no interest in Citadel or just "never got around to it"), KoA could potentially "lose out" (for lack of a better phrase) due to lack of organization in-game (since you're only considered a part of the clan in-game if you belong to that Clan in-game). The CC shows 98 members currently, and this site shows 141 members. If the CC chat were used, it would encourage unity (in my opinion) and make KoA a stronger clan overall in terms of rankings, representation, and camaraderie.
It honestly makes no difference to me either way, but I've come up with these thoughts/concerns over the past month or so and although I'd rather stay quiet (I despise confrontation and drama, and I'm always terrified I'll offend someone somehow), it's really been eating away at me and I just had to come forward and say something, once Brad agreed to open discussion

You guys are my RS family
