The grandfathering our members is a great idea and I will guess making total level of 1700 will not improve or change much of anything I'd say leave it as is.

Magic tree's for me received 2 so far. one pet other used for summoning beast.

Fishing or wcing is fine, skills that you can buy lvls (eg) herb lore, crafting and smithing are not as fair.
