Well, I was doing the math today trying to figure out a cheap and profitable way to fletch from 95-99. This may actually take a longer time, but it is good if you are watching tv and waiting for your crops to grow.

Cost
Ok, so 10k Maple logs (34gp each) = 340k
10k yews (471gp each) = 4.71m
10k mage logs (1413gp each) = 14.13m

XP
Maple Longbow (u) (58.25 xp) = 582,500k xp
Yew Longbow (u) (75 xp) = 750,000k xp
Magic Longbow (u) (91.5 xp) = 915,000 xp

Sell for
Maple longbow (u) )(100 gp) = 1m
yew long (u) (429 gp) = 4.29m
Magic longbow (u) (1,286 gp) = 12.86m

High Alch
Maple longbow (u) (192 gp) = 1.92m
Yew Longbow (u) (384 gp ) = 3.84m
Magic Longbow (u) (768 gp) = 7.68m


So as you can see, maple longbows for the price and xp are way better than yews and magics. From 95 to 99 magic I need 73,183 Maple Longbow (u), 56,839 Yew Longbow (u), or 46,589 Magic Longbow (u). Based on cost (those few thousand extra maples are gonna be way cheaper to fletch if you are afking while watching tv or looking at forums. Hope this helps.

Also, if you sell maple logs from kindom in GE its 34gp each, or 100gp each if u make them into longs, so u get xp and 3x's the gp. If u have 10k maples from kingdom and sell in GE you get 340k. If you make into maple longs(u) you get 582,500k xp and 1mil gp. Humm?? What to do?

Here are the calculation if I go from 95 to 99 with sc knives. I'll need 36,592 Maple Longbow(u) (knife), 28,420 Yew Longbow(u) (knife), or 23,295 Magic Longbow(u) (knife).

In conclusion!! GO MAPLES FROM KINGDOM!!!!

UPDATE: 3/9/10 Maple long (u) are currently selling for 104gp each. If you sell your 10k for 104k and buy more maple logs you will have 30,588 maple logs. If you fletch those and sell for 104gp you will end up making 3,181,152gp.

That is over 3mil gp from 340k starting out!!

thanks for posting...great tip especially if you get maples from misc or evil trees...10k doesn't even seem like all that many for so much xp. Sc knives ftw!

Nice thorough guide. It contains some helpful information. To bad i didn't know this info earlier. I sure wasted money getting that cape. Hope a few members get some of the advantages of this guide.

Do maple (u) 's sell on the GE? because they used to be commonly traded as junk.

i was just wondering if it would be better to get herbs or fish and sell them and buy the maples?

but I don't do my kingdom and never bought maples, so completely ignorant on the matter lol.

I was surprised that unstrung maple longs sell on the ge, pretty quickly, for about twice what a log sells for. RM said he thinks that they are selling better this week, 3x a log, 'cause of the 2x weekend coming up. I have never had trouble selling them.

Well they are selling this week really fast. Can't promise this will stay consistant. If u got time to blow til Friday try it out. I'll update this after the weekend on prices. Either way the xp is worth it based on price.

For shattered heart strange rocks you need maples for fletching and firemaking. Assuming minimum of 100 logs for each rock and total 120 rocks (30 rounds of rocks, 4 rocks per round), that's 12000 logs.

Yep, I can confirm maples work quite well for getting strange rocks for both fletching and firemaking, all right.
