Last night, North America changed to Daylight Savings Time (DST). Europe will change to DST in 2 weeks. What does this mean?....the potential for massive event scheduling confusion. So, to minimize this confusion, once DST has happened in your region of the world, access your User Control Panel > Board preferences > Edit global settings and click the Summer Time/DST is in effect radio button. Then, remember to click on the Submit button. Confirm the correct time in the right upper corner, where it should say It is currently....__date & time__.

This also means over the next 2 weeks that North Americans need to add 1 hour when calculating the difference between your local time and UTC (GMT). For example, if you live on the East Coast of the United States, before today, it was 5 hrs between Eastern Standard Time and GMT. Today, and for the next 2 weeks, there's a 4 hr difference.

So, after you've changed your global settings (and assuming the people who post events to the KoA calendar have done this too), you should be able to rely on the times listed at the clan calendar. To confirm current times, check here: http://www.ildado.com/world_clock.html

OK I hate to be difficult

(GMT) UTC doesn't change, nor does EST, ie GMT and EST are always 5 hours apart. EST is standard time, hence the name The time at the moment is non-standard, or daylight time (EDT). There is a 4 hour difference between GMT and local Eastern time. (EDT) until the clocks next go back, so if an event is posted in GMT if you live on the east coast, you will need to subtract 4 hours until the clocks go back to get your local time (rather than the regular 5).

People in the UK will need to add 1 hour to GMT to get their local time, (BST) during the summer months until the clocks next go back. People in Europe will need to add an extra hour than you did before. IE Those in CET will have to add 2 hours now, rather than 1.

I think the easiest way is, if you live west of the UK, you subtract one less hour (-5 becomes -4), if you live east of the UK you add one extra hour. (that is assuming your country has some form of daylight savings in effect).

Obviously as Chris said the easiest way is to update your profile on the forums. GMT/EST timings are just posted for reference, in case people havent updated profiles etc..

Altho I would suggest not posting EST times during the summer time as it causes a heap of confusion, but use local time instead.

Grr! I hate the whole idea of it. but I don't plan for it. I just wait until my cell phone is different from my electric clock, then change all the electric clocks. It is an advantage of having Monday off. Whenever it happens.

This whole time change thing always confuses me but Daylight Saving Time ends next Sunday, Nov. 6th at 2 am in the United States, not tomorrow. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this thread is for when D.S.T. starts on the second Sunday of March each year.

I live in the one province in Canada that NEVER changes its time. Its easy locally, but when dealing with all your guys' crazy time changes I get confused.

Europe changes from savings time this weekend.
